A little bit about Jack – Jack is a very loving puppy when he gets to know you, but he can be very timid and nervous in new situations and new people. Jack is less nervous and timid when he is with another older dog. Jack doesn't bark at people, doorbell etc. He is a lovely dog who is learning to be a puppy. He is a quiet dog when left on his own for a couple of hours, he goes to his crate and sleeps. Jack would be best in a rural or village setting along with another dog to help with his nervousness while out on walks.
Energy Requirements: Jack is still a puppy so the walks are kept short in length, but he does go out twice a day and also have plenty of garden time. Jack walks well on the lead.
Training: Jack is now house-trained. He has learned to sit, stay. He will stay and come from short distances. He is also working with the whistle on recall in the garden. Jack is a treat-based dog.
Visiting the vet: Jack is up to date with his vaccinations and has had his full health check. He is microchipped and fit and well. Jack will be adopted with a contract to be neutered when old enough. Jack is well behaved in the vets. No issues.
Travelling: Jack is travel sick when he goes out in the car. This is a work in progress, and his fosterers have been building up Jack’s tolerance.
Food: Jack eats dry kibble twice a day along with some cooked chicken. Water is also put in his food.
Sleep: Jack sleeps in his crate at night. Jack is an early riser and the day is spent playing with toys, following his fosterers around the house and garden. He goes on a couple of walks and also has some car time to try and get him used to tavelling. Jack takes himself off to his crate when he is sleepy or finds a human to cosy up with.
Behavioural issues: Jack is timid and nervous in new situations when on his own, not so much when he has an older dog with him. Jack is happy to sniff other dogs when out. Cars and people on the street make him very wary of going for a walk again that is a work in progress.
Home needs: Jack needs a quiet but active home and will need canine companionship to give him confidence. He would be best in a rural or semi-rural area, as he is still getting used to built-up busy areas. He will need an owner who is around most of the day, and who is committed to his training and continuing socialisation. Older children would be fine. A safe secure garden would be essential.
Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
