Before you begin your adoption journey, please be prepared for some important updates to our application process. We’ve added more questions to our application form, and this additional information plays a crucial role in helping us determine if you are the perfect match for one of our dogs. Your thorough and thoughtful answers are greatly appreciated, as incomplete applications may regrettably result in rejection.

It’s important to note that many of the dogs coming into our care require extended foster stays and support from our behaviourists due to the unique circumstances of their surrender. The Adoption Process
Firstly, you will need to read and complete an Adoption registration form (see below). This includes a questionnaire to tell us something about you and your circumstances, so that we can try to find you the perfect canine companion.
Once you have submitted this form one of our rehoming team will get in touch by phone to discuss your application. Although we aim to organise this as quickly as possible, please bear in mind that we are all volunteers. This call lets us explain the process, discuss your application, and gives you a chance to ask any questions that you have. At this stage we may ask for a vet reference and/or personal reference. This call is an essential step to inclusion in our registry for a potential placement of Springer Rescue for Scotland dog.
Once this call has been done, we will arrange for a home visit to be carried out by a local volunteer.
When you are approved, we may not be able to offer you a suitable dog immediately. Your local Area Coordinator may be able to give you some idea of the likely wait for the type of Springer that will suit you best. Keep an eye on the website and note interest in any dogs that seem suitable, you will receive an email advising on how to note interest after your home visit is complete.
When you are matched with a dog, we will provide you with all the information we have, including veterinary information etc. prior to placement. We will ask you to come and visit the dog in his or her foster home on a minimum of two occasions, just to make sure everyone is still happy. It is important that all the family get to know the dog and share in the decision that this is the right dog for you. You may be together for more than the next 10 years!
If you already have another dog, they will also go with you to meet and check that they get on together.
Assuming all the veterinary treatment has been done and your home check and subsequent homeward bound visit are satisfactory, you will be able to adopt your dog. The dog should be collected from the foster home. An adoption agreement must be signed before the dog becomes part of your family, this paperwork is all done via email. You will also be asked to make an appropriate donation to SRS by bank transfer. This will help towards the cost of veterinary treatment, telephone calls, kennelling, foster care and travelling expenses. While it is a donation, we ask that adopters consider that most dogs cost the rescue upwards of £400.00 while in foster care with us.
All dogs come with 5 weeks free insurance from Agria.
We will contact you in a week or so to see how things are going. We will also be in touch again once he or she has been home for about six weeks. We will always be available if you need our help, and we will always be delighted to hear updates on how SRS dogs are getting on!

We will work with you through each of these steps.
The first step - filling in this form is the most critical to get the process moving. Please take the time to fill the form in properly. Please give us as much detail as you can. This is the only information our team has to move your application forward to the next step. Forms which are not completed in DETAIL will be rejected.
