Hi, I’m Angus! I’m a very affectionate, handsome Cocker. I’m quite a strong boy, pulling on the lead, especially when going to new exciting places I’ve not been before. I’m very good with people, just love a cuddle and attention. Everyone who meets me thinks I’m such a cutie.
Energy Requirements: Angus is a very energetic dog and needs a combination of physical and mental exercise. He loves to play in the garden between walks. He has not been off-lead while in foster and has been exercised on a long line as well as lead walks.
Training: Angus needs a commitment to his training. He pulls on the lead and has poor recall. He is very food oriented so this may help with ongoing training. He can do “sit”, “stay” and “lie down”. Angus would benefit from having an owner experienced in training Cocker Spaniels.
Visiting the vet: Angus has had his routine health check and is fit and well. His vaccinations have been re-started.
Travelling: Angus is very vocal and stressed in the car. His fosterers have been working on this and have made some progress. He can be distracted with a filled Kong, and his fosterers are trying a calming spray.
Food: Angus likes a mix of good quality kibble and wet food. He loves treats.
Sleep: Angus will start the night in his own bed with a Bonio. During the night he will come upstairs to the main bedroom and curl up on the bed.
Behavioural issues: Angus has a degree of separation anxiety, so needs someone around most of the time who is prepared to work on this. Behavioural support will be available. He can be reactive to some dogs when he first meets them but is fine once introduced. He regularly walks with two labradors with no problems.
Home needs: Angus needs an experienced home willing to continue his training. He would probably be best in a home with no other pets as he likes all the attention.
Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
