Hi, I’m Ember! I’m a very loveable oldie looking for the perfect retirement home! I just love to snooze in my favourite chair and get lots of attention. Ember loves everyone and has been of late going to dog friendly cafes and behaves well. My foster mum says my worst habit is that I like to close doors, meaning that I often get stuck behind them. I like your socks and slippers if I can get hold of them and I like hard balls (if they are tennis ones I will shred them). I have got on well with all the dogs I have met, I am a lover not a fighter.
Energy Requirements: Ember still enjoys his walks and a good sniff. He loves to swim given the chance. He has been used to a rural environment.
Training: Ember pulls a little bit on the lead, off lead has good recall and stays close to you. Ember likes to bark a little at times when really excited.
Visiting the vet: Ember has had his routine health check. He is still reasonably fit for his age but is showing signs of arthritis in his hips and knees. This being the case, Ember will likely be a supported adoption. Ember is good at the vets no issues with them handling him.
Travelling: Ember prefers to be in the boot secured, if not will jump over the into the back seat. He will bark a little in the car and does need a hand getting in and out, but will wait to come out when told.
Food: Ember is a foodie, currently fed twice a day on Dr John Senior, loves his treats when given and is gentle taking them.
Sleep: I will sleep in a dog bed but I like to be close to you so I really prefer being with you on the bed, at the foot of the bed.
Behavioural issues: I can get a bit barky if I am left alone in the house but with a Kong filled it will keep me occupied a bit, so can get excited when leaving the house barking.
Home needs: Ember would like a quiet home, with someone around most of the day for company. He could live with another calm friendly dog but would be happy being the centre of attention.
Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
