Hi! My name is Donald and I’m a lively, adorable, well-behaved spaniel. I’m a very affectionate boy. I can be unsure of new dogs & new people but usually settle down quickly.

Energy Requirements: I am really enjoying my walks. I also very much like playing with toys and chasing a ball. I settle easily, especially if I have had a good walk. I don’t mind being left for a short while and settle quickly. I do like to be around my people and will follow them around the house. I just love company and being around people or other dogs.

Training: I have been well trained and walk well on & off the lead. I am really good at learning and enjoy doing what I am asked to do, I don’t like to go very far away from my people out on a walk and enjoy interacting with them, especially if they have a ball to throw. I get excited when I see the lead coming out and know a walk is coming!

I can sit on command and give my paw. I will ‘lie down’ and my “stay” is good. Retrieving is my favourite thing to do and I will bring my toy back every time, sometimes I struggle to put it down but I do know you can’t throw it again until I do. I know my name and will come running when called. My recall is brilliant especially if you have a ball or food in your hand. I respond well to instructions and am keen to please.

Visiting the Vet: I was a little nervous when I went to visit the vet but I was very well behaved.  I am slightly overweight and need to lose a little, but this will come off as my exercise increases.

Travelling: I like going out in the car and will happily jump into it, I can whine a bit in the car, but it is just from excitement to see where we are going. I am happy being clipped on to the rear seat seatbelt with my harness.

Food: I have 2 meals a day, breakfast and tea but could easily adjust to a different routine. I don’t hassle my fister Mum for food at any particular time.

Sleep: I sleep really well, in my own bed at foster Mum’s feet, or behind her chair, on the sofa, or with her!

Behavioural issues: I get on well with other dogs most of the time but sometimes I am watchful of resources and can guard anything that I consider precious to me, however I am easily distracted and with guidance from my foster mum this has not been a problem.

I like to bark when people to come the house or hear noises outside.

Home needs: Donald is looking for an active home, with someone around most of the time. A rural or semi-rural location would be ideal. Donald was a little overweight when he arrived but with the right amount of exercise he is easily trimming down to a healthy weight. Donald would like a garden to play in when he’s not out on walks. He would be fine as the only dog in the home or he can live with other dogs after careful introduction. He would be fine with older children who are used to dogs. He is well behaved and trained. He responds well to commands and would like someone who will spend time doing things with him.

Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
