A little bit about Angus – Angus is a lovely, very well-behaved dog with excellent manners.  He is sometimes needy and is used to a lot of attention. He is submissive to other dogs and plays nicely. He will need some canine company in his new home as this is what he is used to. He will follow you around the house but settles well.

Current routine: out for toileting first thing, then a 40+ minute walk with other dogs. Breakfast an hour after return. Chilling, sleeping and mooching about the house on and off all day. Angus is fine to be left with the other dogs for up to 4 hours. He gets a 20+ minute walk in the evening and a last toilet break in the garden after his tea.  He likes access to the garden in good weather.

Energy Requirements:  Angus will need a good off-lead walk every morning as he still has a lot of energy. He is great off lead and in rural areas. He has had some lameness injuries, he used to run a lot with his previous owner.

Training:  Angus pulls on the lead but has very good recall. Angus has great manners, no major training issues. However, he is used to a lot of attention. He will woof (a 'boof', not full bark) if left in another room or if he doesn’t get enough attention. He has been ignored or quietly corrected/told to go lie down and that has decreased a lot.

His manners with other dogs are excellent. He pulls on the lead but is making progress on this. He has excellent recall.

Visiting the vet: Angus is micro-chipped and his vaccinations are up to date. He has been recently neutered. He is fit and well, but reported to have a little lameness if he overdoes things, although this has not been observed since he’s been in foster.  He behaved impeccably at his routine healthcheck visit.

Travelling:  Angus is quiet when travelling and happy to jump in the car.

Food: He has Harringtons Kibble x 2 per day.

Sleep:  Angus sleeps in the kitchen with his fosterers other dogs.

Behavioural issues:  He has mild separation anxiety, a little shadow chasing, and is a little nervous, but nothing that his fosterer would consider an 'issue'. Just needs confident handling and clear boundaries.

He also tries to resource guard his fosterer a little, he wants to lie at her feet. There hasn’t been any resource guarding over any other objects. This will need firm boundaries and he shouldn’t be rehomed with another dog who resource guards family.

Home needs: Angus is a lovely boy who loves people and is very well-mannered. He will be great living with another friendly dog, but also needs people who are around a lot. A rural or semi-rural location would be ideal, but a large garden to potter around in would be fine.

Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog
