A little bit about the Girls …. Becky and Lily are a bonded pair of litter mates. They are very friendly girls and are described as contented, happy, and placid. They love nothing more than cuddling up on sofa with you. Unfortunately, their owner can no longer look after them.

Energy Requirements:

Both dogs have slowed down a bit in the last year however they still have lots of energy, they love to potter in the garden with you.  Lily likes to chase a ball and will encourage you to throw it for her. They still enjoy daily walks, both dogs pull on the lead, Becky will pull less once the walk has begun, and Lily has shown to be nervous around busy roads. Their fosterers are working on lead walking. Both dogs were generally off lead when out with their previous owner.

Training:

Both dogs have been undergoing assessment while in foster. The fosterers have been working on walking well on the lead and increasing their exercise to build up their stamina. They can both be cautious walking next to busy roads so would prefer somewhere quiet. Lily can generally be a little anxious and looks to Becky for reassurance. Both girls want to please and do not like to be told off, they respond well to positive reinforcement and praise. They are both great alarm clocks and can be vocal when greeting you when you walk through the door or to anything that has taken their attention or when they are excited, they are responding well to fosterer’s guidance around this.

Visiting the vet:

Both dogs are in good health for their age. They have been health-checked while in foster and a few lumps and bumps typical of their age have been checked and should be monitored but no surgery required. They are up to date with their vaccinations. As with many dogs their age their dental health will require monitoring.

Travelling:

Both dogs travel well in the car, in the boot with a dog guard.

Food:

Both dogs eat well. They are fed on dry kibble. They are fed at the same time at opposite ends of the kitchen. They like a slice of toast in the mornings and they enjoy treats. They have generally good manners at feeding time and will sit and wait to be asked to eat their dinner. They will sit and give a paw for treats.

Sleep:

They sleep together in their own bed in the kitchen, although, given any opportunity prefer to sleep with you.

Behavioural issues:  No behavioural issues have been noted.

Home needs:

Beck and Lily would like a quiet home, preferably with a large garden to potter about in, and with access to safe areas for walks. They would be fine as the only pair but have lived with another dog. No very young children, and no cats.

Ongoing support:

Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.

Please DO NOT express interest in Becky and Lily if you are going on holiday in the next 4-6 weeks.
