Hello!  My name is Deano, and I’m a lovely black and white Sprocker.

I may be 10 years old but I have loads of energy!  Our walks take an hour plus and I run the entire time, hardly taking time to sniff.  We go to 5 acre stubble fields and I just run up and down and all over the place, never stopping or walking.   When I come home, I have a quick drink and then look out my toys and bring them to my foster mum to play with me. I love it when someone throws a tennis ball for me, I will bring it right back to go again.  I might be making up for lost time!  I am having an absolute ball, my tail never stops.

I have seen horses and cattle and didn’t bother with them, but when I saw sheep I wanted to chase and play with them. Fortunately, I was on the lead at the time.

I love all people I meet as they usually pet me. Anyone who comes to the house is going to give me a cuddle which I love.  I may be busy during the day but I can be nice and calm in the evenings, snoozing.  I sleep well at night in my own bed in the corner of my Mum’s bedroom.  I like my own space when I’m out, I don’t generally approach other dogs, and prefer them to leave me alone. I can be a bit reactive with other dogs if they invade my space but if we meet in a gentle, nice way, I am fine with them.  I am okay for them to come into my house.  I’m a bit wary of small children as I am not used to them.

I am a bit of a scavenger, I’m very food orientated and can be a bit of a counter surfer. I haven’t had any formal training but my fosterer has been teaching me some manners. My new family will need to continue my training.

I love to find water when I’m out on my walks, that’ll be the Springer in me!

I pull a bit on the lead, especially at first. My recall is quite good but needs some work. I do respond to the whistle.  I like travelling in the car but it is best if I wear a harness and sit in the back seat.

Note: Deano would like a calm, quiet but fairly active home with someone around most of the time. He was overweight when he first came into rescue, but his fosterer has been working on that, and at the same time gradually increasing his exercise. He does have lots of energy. He could live with another friendly placid dog after careful introduction. No young children, and no cats.
